I guess Favre will have to keep playing if he wants to exit the game like Elway did.

I was hoping that the Packers won the NFC Championship so that Favre could play in a Super Bowl again. If he won another Superbowl he could then (if he wanted to do so) retire after winning the big one in the last game of his career.

Elway cappped off his great career with two consecutive Super Bowl wins and retired after winning the 1999 Super Bowl over the Falcons.

Have any other star quarterbacks, after many, many seasons in the NFL, retired after winning the Super Bowl? If so, names and years please.

Elway sucked before the two SB wins, without TD I have to wonder if he even has that! Favre has always been good and if he had
the talent that Elway had back in the day I'm sure he would have more rings than he does.

I watched Elway for many years, he sucked for many of those! He doesn't even make my top 5 QB's

Why would he care about what Elway did??

Favre would not care a whit about what Elway did or did not do.

The OP merely stated that if he wants to retire after winning a Super Bowl (like Elway did) he will have to play another year. The OP also asked whether any other Quarterbacks retired after winning the Super Bowl and if so which ones.

As far as how good or lousy Elway was, that also does not matter, given the purpose of the OP (See above).

So I will ask again, what other quarterbacks besides Elway, if any, retired after winning a Super Bowl. I am sure there must be some, I just do not remember.

Let me guess your top 5:

    1. Brad Johnson
    2. Garcia
    3. Greise
    4. Simms
    5. Dilfer

How many Tampa Bay Buccaneer Quarterbacks have taken the Buccaneers to 5 Super Bowls? I can not think of any.

I guess since Elway's record in the Super Bowl is 2 wins and 3 losses he simply one of the worst QB's of all time. Cuz we all know that the only true measure of whether a QB is worthy of being called great is whether he is undefeated in the Super Bowl. Anything else he does outside of the Super Bowl simply does not count.

If Elway was being drafted out of college this year and joestalin had advanced knowledge of what his NFL career numbers would be, do you think he might suggest that the Buccaneers draft him. I suspect that joestalin just might, even though Elway, in his learned opinion, is a sucky QB.
  • Hey, no dissing on Simms, The 80s Giants rocked!
