I'm Now Convinced There Is No Such Thing As A Football God...

I'm now convinced there is no such thing as a football God. Because if there was one, there is no way he (or she) let's Brett Favre lose a home playoff game on the door steps of the Super Bowl. I don't know what makes me happier, seeing all those cheeseheads crying as the football sailed through the uprights in overtime or knowing that I won't have to deal with two (2) weeks of Tom Brady v. Brett Favre storylines. But there is one drawback of the Pack losing now as opposed to in the Super Bowl, I have to deal with two extra weeks of whether Favre will retire or not. For me, Favre can't retire soon enough.

but there is a football god...he wears number 12 for New England.
  • I think the football god searches the packs I get before I buy them and cherry picks them.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
  • As a long-time anti-Favre guy, I was crying with joy as he tossed that interception yesterday to cement his team's loss. Don't get me wrong, th guy has accomplished some good things (records and titles) but part of the reason he turns my stomach is that I think the media give him WAY too much credit. I'm soooo sick of hearing how good this guy is and how tough he is. Is he a gamer? Sure, I think so. But they just over do it a bit too much. Look, as far as I'm concerned, the guy has WAY too many interceptions to be mentioned in the same breath as the all-time greats like Montana, Unitas, Brady, Aikman, etc. Therefore, thought it was very fitting that his most glaring (yet most amazingly under-mentioned) weakness is what ended up losing the game for the Pack yesterday. For me it was a win-win scenario... it was nice to see them lose that way, but even if they would have won, I could have looked forward to them getting demolished vs NE in the superbowl... maybe somewhere along the lines of the 55-10 beating the 49ers put on the Broncos back in the day!

I would have liked to see a Greenbay-Patriots Superbowl, don't know why, just would have.

The Packers played lousy yesterday, especially in the second half. Favre stunk up the joint and for what ever reason could not move his team down the field for a game winning TD or field goal.

No need to cry for the Packers however, they are still 3-1 in the Super Bowl, with Farve being 1-1. I really enjoyed watching his and the Packers lose the 1998 Super Bowl to Denver (since I am a Denver fanimage.

Nothing turns my stomach more than when John Madden does a game featuring Green Bay he is always killing the "Brett Favre this and Brett Favre that" thing, without a doubt he has a man crush on him!

Favre's legacy IMO will always be about his ability stay on the field- you cant take his toughness away from him, however he makes a living off of slinging that ball up in the air for grabs... sure he has a laser beam arm but his long range acuracy is not near as good as the all time greats.

  • Don't nitpick so much. I bet every one of you can't wait to watch him play again. The guy makes the game fun. The reason for that is because you never know what he's going to do next. You ever watch bowling? Probably not, because every single roll and motion looks exactly like the one before. That's 90% of the quarterbacks in the league. It's a game! It's supposed to be fun! When it's too methodical, it loses the excitement.

I hope the guy sticks around for another year. Then I hope his style rubs off on Aaron Rodgers after watching him play for that many years!!

The QB's are given way too much credit for a team's success anyway. I already knew that, but it was reinforced when the Chiefs all pro offensive linemen started retiring, beginning with the Great Willie Roaf. We went from scoring over 30 points a game to scoring about 12 per game this year. No time for the QB to throw, no blocking for the RB's.
Plug Tom Brady in as the Chiefs starting QB, and he wouldn't make the pro bowl, or even be considered one of the top QB's this year.
