Is Eli better than Peyton?

Of course I'm kidding, but giving credit where credit is due, Eli sure has done a nice job in these playoff games.

No question he deserves all the credit in the world. It took Peyton far longer to reach the Super Bowl, and if Eli can engineer an historic upset of the Pats, well, then...greatness is measured by championships.

  • No, but Eli has finally found his stride. I hope we don't hear too much more of "we should have taken Rivers instead of Eli". He got to the SB faster than Peyton so he's cool image

Also keep in mind what Peyton had...Marvin, Reggie, Clark, Addai, Edgerrin. Eli is winning with guys with half the talent
and no legit TE...impressive in my opinion, but of course we all know defense wins championships. Remember that
Trent Dilfer is a super bowl winner. He made no mistakes..sound familiar?

  • If he can somehow lead his team in victory vs the Patriots, then people might actually start to ponder that question. Peyton was given more talent to work with than Eli, so this is a huge accomplishment just getting to the Super Bowl especially by winning all of the games on the road.

The Giants win in spite of Eli, not because of him.

Big differance between him and a real NFL QB ...

Wonder if Eli will guarantee a win the way another NY quarterback did as a big underdog back in 1969 ? LOL

I don't think the Giants will be as big a dog as those Jets were against the Colts. I'm guessing the line will be the Patriots minus around 9 to 11 1/2 points.

    Hey thegemmintman,
that's exactly what Eli's eyes are going to look like once he gets hit in the SB.

Actually, good luck to you, thegemmintman and the Giants, in the big game and to the Pats as well.

Here's to hoping it'll be a great game... image

It should be a memorable one for both teams image
  • Eli is competent. he made some ugly throws today, despite the win. He isnt polished yet, but he could be GOOD, not great.

Peyton is already destined for the HOF.
Eli will be a capable Qb with flashes of greatness.

I can't stand it anymore! First it was "oh Eli is going to choke against Bucs", then it was "cowboys vs giants?...pshhh", when will people fess up and give Eli/Giants some respect.

But it doesn't matter really the Giants just feed off of the negative comments and turn it into wins.

  • Eli still has a lot to prove but he is turning fans into believers.

Consider this: Peyton was almost 31 years old when he went to his first Super Bowl. Eli just turned 27 years old.

The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
  • Eli is the only Quarterback that has not thrown one Pick during the playoffs.

yeah .... and Eli's EYES were supposed to be just soooooooo BIG coming into the sacred ground of Lambeau right? With the weather just soooo cold .... and Vince Lombardi's ghost and bla bla bla bla friggen bla.

I don't think guys who make comments about Eli have any clue about what he and the Giants have done to get to this Super Bowl. I mean ..... 10 straight ROAD wins must have been just a fluke right?

I GUARANTEE you that even if the Giants lose the Bowl it will be a great game.

Eli deserves all the credit in the world for the Giants postseason run. Who'd have thought that Favre would be the one who was more adversely affected by the cold. He's taken his fair share of criticism (sometimes well deserved, sometimes not), so it's time to give credit where credit is due.

I just saw it opened at Patriots -12 1/2 at a major book.....that's just about right but a little high in my opinion especially since there of course is no home field advantage here, and the Giants have played remarkably well on the road.

So how do you rank the big three from the 2004 draft based on their careers to date? Being a Steeler fan, I have to rank as follows:

    1) Big Ben - Has a ring, 13-0 regular season record to start his career, broke Bradshaw's record with 32 TD passes this year, >100 passer rating this year. He didn't play well in the SB but he played lights out to beat Cincy, Indy and Denver in the playoffs.

    2) Eli - He's been inconsistant through his career to this point but lately has been playing very well. If he beats NE, he can make a strong case for being #1.

    3) Rivers - He didn't have the benefit of starting his first year but he did get to learn behind Drew Brees. He's played mostly well so far but hasn't really distinguished himself from Ben and Eli. He's still developing though.

All in all, I think the 2004 draft will be right up there with the 1983 draft in terms of turning out great QBs.
