Beckett Must Be Expecting A Big Defection

If they aren't they are certainly trying to reel in anyone who makes a decision to dump or crossover all of their PSA cards.
BGS Offering $3 Crossover Review Service
You pay $3 for them to review your card, then if it makes your minimum grade you pay a grading fee on top of that to cross it over.
I only found it when I was reading their blog - the placement of the link makes it pretty obvious what they are trying to do. Beckett Blog On PSA Introducing Half Grades

I will send them out to be "graded" and put in
BGS holders.
1957 Topps PSA
1961 Fleer SGC
It's just a suggestion.

PSA as been great in everyway!

<< <i>I'm not crossing over my cards to BGS. They have bad customer service, and when did you ever get a call back from them when you leave a message? I'm pretty sure the answer is never. I don't like their thick cases, tales up to much space, and they scratch very easy. I don't think i've ever even received an email response back from them. And did I meantion that unless you are somebody they know, you will always receive a lower grade?

I use both PSA and BGS. In fact, BGS is working on a submission right now.
Apparently you have had a bad experience, but I've never had a problem with BGS.

I really don't like BGS, but if you're talking post-2000 cards, you would be silly to go with PSA over BGS.

you got to be kidding me right....
i want to see evidence of 1 person who crosses over from PSA to BGS and i will give them a prize.....

If I had intentions of selling my 1981 WTF Rochester cards I would seriously consider it. PSA was slabbing fakes for years after Beckett revealed how to spot counterfeits. Here's a quote from my report about the situation:
"Although it’s a small sample size, we do know that 8.6% of that total PSA 9 population report as of May 1, 2007, was counterfeit."
Then again, I won't be selling those cards any time soon or ever.

I did notice one thing that does not really mean anything. Last night I saw the ad from the home page of Beckett, and when I clicked on it I noted the memo date "Jan 15 2008 1:44PM." This seemed to me like they were trying to say, we didn't just think of this because of PSA, see this date. The Beckett Rep did say it was in response to PSA, and I guess it is possible they knew ahead of time, and this is nothing really important, no great conspiracy, but I thought interesting.
I guess it does mean either they knew ahead of time, or made up the date?

have you follwed Pujols rookie cards in the last 3 years ..there is not 1 example of a BGS 9.5 selling for more than a PSA 10....
most of the BGS 9.5 come from shady sellers....word gets around , people are not dumb....eventually the stuff slowed down....
too bad VCP only goes up to 1989 because i think you would be shocked how well PSA 10 Modern sells VS beckett.....
NOTE: beckett 9.5 will outsell PSA 10 when you are talking about prospects and bowman chrome nobodies beckett has a "prospector" community that loves spending money slabbing players who will never make it to the bigs.....PSA customers arent dumb enough to play the prospect game.....

Excellent point. PSA customers would much rather spend their hobby bucks slabbing nm-mt 1981 Moose Haas cards.

Strangely, I would rather have the 1981 Haas.
You should also add auto cards and jersey cards to the BGS side. And I will add I buy modern football and it seems to me PSA outsell BGS there. There ARE modern PSA football registry sets, like 1989 Score and some of the Topps issues with good competition. I don't think there is such thing with BGS.
I have also wondered about BGS sellers being more shady. Typically I would think such a comment to be ignorant and I imagine it is to some degree. However, five times I have won a Steve Young BGS 9.5 for a dollar or two, and three times I did not get the card. That is pretty limited experience, certainly not enough to pull data from....but I am now more cautious with BGS sellers.

This discussion thread is very interesting. One thing PSA 10's cannot touch (in regards to the modern cards) are the BGS 10 pristines. Here's an example of a card that I've sold all three of: 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey in BGS 9.5 = $195, in PSA 10 = $225, in BGS 10 = $1200. Here's one from this year: 2007 Topps Chrome Adrian Peterson White Refractor in BGS 9.5 = $175, in PSA 10 = $200, in BGS 10 = $405. The BGS 10 pristines are overinflated but the buyers on ebay are eating them up. Bottom line....if you want to make money on the modern stuff...have a few BGS 10's....they command the big dollars!

Fandango,
You really need to stop your infactuation with every Beckett post, since you have already been outted as a member of the Beckett boards as well. It is very childish (though I have a feeling you are teenager,so I will give you a pass).
