AT LEAST HAVE A 3.00 DOLLAR REVIEW NOT 5.00

Personally i believe PSA should charge less for reviews but do a break down of years first per month. Start with the oldest cards ever graded in all sports and non-sports. So if it is 1888 for the oldest ?? Go 1888 to 1900 Then go 1901 to 1910. Then 1911 to 1920. Then 1921 to 1930. And so on. Go every 10 years until present day.
This will make the transition easier for all and PSA will not get flooded with all these cards. If you feel like paying the 5.00 dollar or more per card and can't wait for your year to come up then that would be your choice.
SO PSA GIVE ALL OF US AT LEAST A DISCOUNT !!! AND DO THE RESUBMIT'S EVERY 10 YEARS !!

Should have done it this way at the beginning !!! And yes there should be 9.5 's !! To me that's being predjustice !! Half grades for all but 9.5 ??? This is the only thing i disagree with.
Just my 2 cents !!

Psa is not going to regrade a $10,000.00 card for 3.00, 5.00 or 10.00.

Your idea sounds good but the regrade fee is based on the value of the card.

    Edited to add:

    From the release:

For example, if you submit a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax in PSA NM-MT 8, we would require that the card be submitted at the $60 Super Express level (cards with a declared value of $1,000-$2,499) even though the card will most certainly be worth significantly more (placing the card at the $100 Walk-Thru service level) if the card receives the half-point bump. PSA is charging the customer based on the current state of the card, not what the outcome might be.

    Good for you.
  • I am talking cards under 500.00 dollars.
Alot of cards that are 500.00 dollars in a PSA 8 sell for alot less then a PSA 9 which usually sells 4 times more on a average.
This 500.00 value should be added as well.
Still they should do the 10 year thing to stop the flood of cards.

Steve do you really think it is economical for someone to submit cards that sell for 20.00 in 8 and maybe 60.00 in 9? Im thinking the cards we will see being submitted are top dollar cards where the spread is substantial.

Or am I missing your point?

Don't get me wrong your idea has merit, it makes for an easy transistion.

I don't think the flood will be much more than alittle water taken in from a sinking ship.

  • When CLCT needs to stem the next round of losses will PSA go to a quarter grade system?

Actually why do they need to charge the full amount of money for the review?

    1. The card is already authenticated as not a fake
    2. The card has been verified as not being altered.
    3. The card has been assigned a grade already, making the graders job only deciding if it deserves a 1/2 grade bump.

Seems to me they should be able to fly through these submissions, why should we have to pay full price for only 1/3 the amount of verification and grading?

    Morgoth,
AMEN brother. The full shot seems extreme. Also, it seems funny how they raised the prices on some of the services. I can't figure out how you can realistically send in a star for review for anything other than $15. You can't use bulk for over $100. Very costly. PSA will see about 15 cards from me on this review debacle- not sure when though. From what I've seen lately on raw grading in vintage, 8.5's will be hard to come by.

You guys are touching on something that we, the customers, at least have some control over: if the expected flood of regrades fails to materialize at $5, then PSA will have no choice but to lower the price.

    Guys,
PSA is not talking $5. Everybody needs to brace themselves and expect $15 on cards over $100 and $30 and $60 and so forth for submissions. Everyone needs to stop talking about $5 and $6 subs. They are not talking chump change they want full tier price. If they only wanted $5 I would not care, but I state again that Joe Orlando himself has stated that it will be full tier price. There are not going to be any cards of New York centerfielders submitted for $5. "FULL TIER PRICE". This is what's so crazy about the idea, it is going to be very expensive.

  • they should allow some form of discount to all PSA collectors...

this is costing PSA collectors/investors potential gains going forward. This new grading system will have an immediate and long term effect for collectors

    Questions to ask yourself...
    1) will you still buy PSA 8 cards in old/current slabs???
    2) will new players/collectors buy PSA 8 cards in older/current slabs or will they buy slabs with the current new grading system....

these are just 2 points that can hurt potential gains going forward...

Don't be too sure, you are forgetting the registry folks. Very competitive environment.
