Paying to get your graded card graded.

One of my biggest "peeves" is that I already paid to get my card graded. Now P$A wants me to pay again to get that same graded card graded again??? CDnuts explain to me on how I should not be upset about that? I paid good money and waited for months on end to get a majority of my cards graded correctly the first time. In fact, how anyone could not see this as a direct money maker and nothing else by P$A is beyond me. I could at least somewhat understand if they worked in a special for the set registry members, based on set completion you get so many card submission upgrades. Will they do something like that? I already know the answer to that one. I for the most part, paid for the card not the holder. Because of that reason most of my set will need to get sent in. In essence I will have paid to get most of my set graded twice!!!! Again CDnuts explain to me on why I should not be miffed about this?

  • I will borrow from another thread...

Why would you need or want to regrade the entire set? THat's illogical...

If it was my set, I would take a close look at only the 8's that have a CASH VALUE of say $100+. Then out of those, look and see if you believe any are SUPER NICE 8's what you consider borderline 9s. Submit those in their case, and for about $20 each, you can have a few highend 8.5s that would easily pay the difference of the reslabs....who knows you may even get a 9.

Why is it illogical? I am not a registry guy, but to those who are...obviously the grade is very important to them. People paid good money to have their cards graded accurately the first time. Now with the grade change, that card is no longer graded accurately using their new scale. An old 7...might be a new 7.5..that is obviously not the same. So now the registry guys..if they want the most accurate grade, must pay again for the same service they paid once for.

    What a load of....

I'd already slowed my puchases considerably, but I'm pretty sore on this move. Bush league if you you ask me.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

I agree. PSA is handling this poorly. I think a $1-$2 regrade fee for a limited time to registry members would appease most people.

My argument is only for the .5 scale. I think the way PSA is handling it sucks, but it's to be expected because they have always handled stuff poorly.

seems like the big boys where already getting this deal BEFORE the announcement. Just as all the other threads over the years have stated how they always get better grades. P$A has now showed their true color$.
  • Larry,

I looked over my modest collection. There's only a few cards that I would want re-graded. Hopefully, this can easily be done as a cross-over versus cracking the slab and submitting raw.

"Now P$A wants me to pay again to get that same graded card graded again??? "

    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////

We paid to get them graded on a different grading-scale
than the one that is now being implemented.

We are NOT paying twice for the "same service." It is
    a totally different service.

But that "totally different service" essentially makes the old service useless.

  • No, the 0.5 scale is much better.

    You'll see!!

you'd be nuts to re sub it in the holder, you are gonna have to crack it out, and hope your 8 doesn't become a 7.5. PSA review has never bumped a grade to my understanding.
  • I wonder how long it will be before P$A is in the word filter.
