Garrett decides to remain in Dallas after meeting with Jerry Jones

in Sports Talk
Jason Garrett has withdrawn from consideration for the head coaching jobs of the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta Falcons, an NFL source said this morning.
He plans to remain the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the decision has not been announced publicly.
Garrett met with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones after returning from a second round of interviews with the Ravens and Falcons on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Cowboys, according to sources, had offered to match the financial terms of any head coaching offers that Garrett received.
Garrett's withdrawal could leave the Ravens focusing on Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh and the Falcons on Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan.

<< <i>So, let's see - Garrett will make as much as (or almost) the "son of Bum" and has a handshake agreement to be the next head coach. Then, I guess Jerry Jones doesn't have to abide by the Rooney Rule which requires the interviewing of minority candidates for any head coaching vacancies that may occur? >>
When the time comes he will probably interview a minority candidate just as a formality to comply with the rule and then hire
Garrett as was prearranged. The Lions tried to do this when they hired Steve Marrauci (sp?) several years ago but several
minority candidates turned down the interview opportunity because they knew it was a farce since the Lions had already made up
their minds.
