How much would a raw NRMT/MT 1974 and 1975 Topps set go for WITHOUT the big guns?

As it stands now, I already got a 1976-2004 Topps run (1976 needs upgrading though) and I'd like to soon (hopefully before the end of this year) also get the 1974 and 1975 sets, which typically go for around the $300 and $450 range on Ebay respectively as NRMT/MT raw sets. Unfortunately, that's a bit out of my price range so I was thinking about "cheating". What I mean by that is see if I can pick up a nice set that does NOT include the big cards (Winfield/Ryan in 1974 and Brett/Yount/Ryan in 1975) and then later pick up those key cards as PSA 7's (I already have the Brett). That being said, what would be a reasonable price for each of those sets in NRMT/MT raw condition w/o the afforementioned key cards? And finally, are there any dealers that can make/sell a set like that?

Speaking of which, I'm also buying a near set of 1979 Topps w/o Ryan/Ozzie soon (from a fellow forum member) that he says was assembled from a rack case; if those cards are in fact as nice as he says (PSA 8-9 range) it'd be most helpful. The set I have is alright, but my 1978 set is pretty razor sharp and I want to try to get the 1979 set up to similar quality (both are personal favorites of mine).

Collecting mid-to-late 70s sets sure is fun, isn't it?
