Benefits of insomnia

Surfing the net at 2 in the morning, I came across a new listing for an 1844 medal with an image yet to
be posted. What caught my eye was:

"The medal is frosted and glazed, and set within a silver band around its edge."

Yikes, the previous medal I bought in such a "slab" was flawless! I didn't think it would last long.

It's BHM 2185 in frosted silver in its original case -75mm in diameter and 15mm thick with its
glass "lunettes", the obverse glass domelike to accomodate the high relief of Sir Thomas Gresham.
Victoria was relegated to the reverse on this one.
