Cool taler design - death taler from Pater

My bid on this 'death taler' was not enough to win it......but the design was so interesting I had to share. Pics are direct from Pater website in Germany.

Since when do you bid on his coins, I didn't think he did auctions image

I found that one on www.ebay.de. I have seen a few of his auctions float through but I have not been actively looking for them.

Ahh an Ebay auction, here I thought I was missing out on something image

Do you still go to the monthly shows? I haven't seen you there in a while

Mike - Unfortunately I have not had a chance to stop by the monthly show for quite some time. I think the last time I saw Tim was the Sharonville show in the fall. The next time you catch him, ask to see the slabbed 1.5 taler from Brunswick - very cool.

I'm setting my sites on the CICF this spring. How about you?

It's very cool, but I hope it doesn't give me nightmares...

Just a couple weeks ago, Tim brought a big container to the show full of thalers and medals, they are nice to look at image

As of today, I plan on being at CICF, my uncle isn't sure if he can go yet. I/we will be driving up Friday morning early and returning Sunday morning if your interested.

Very interesting design, Brent. Do you have the translation of the legend, by any chance?
  • worldcoinguyworldcoinguy Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭✭
Roman - good question on the translation. I do know that it was a 1 year issue to recognize the death of August II, but I dont have many details beyond that. Interesting piece of history.
