POPPAGE- confused

imageThe first 10 were conservative in their grading as I was hoping for a couple of 9's, but I'm okay with the results. As for the next 10- did they run out of coffee in the break room? They were the same quality as the first 10. The 75 Aaron and Munson are not 6's and they are minis which I put on the sub form. The Winfield rookie has a rough cut on the bottom, perfectly centered with awesome color and nice corners. The 1972 football is just puzzling. Very inconsistant, obviously the new graders. The problem with sending in NM-MT 1972 football and receiving 7's is that they are worthless in 7's. I would not send in NM 72 football. I've sent in well over a thousand vintage cards and have never seen the puzzling grades as I have lately.
Thanks,
Mickey71

Without seeing the results of your order, this thread is confusing.

Mickey71, I had the same thing on my latest sub. Sent in 43 '63 Topps BB. All virtually the same(I thought). Somehow my last 7 cards were all 7s. I think they got tired(ran out of coffee) that day too. You called it when you said inconsistent!

I'm getting ready to send in a '72 Seaver IA and a '72 Joe Morgan that's an SGC 86. Post the scans when you get them if you get a chance. Thanks

Their grades have not been very consistent lately. Here are two cards that I just received today. Suquentially numbered, I would assume that the same grader graded both of them. The Spahn should have been a 6 with a shot at a 7. The Robinson I just wanted slabbed, but figured it was a 6 - much lower grade than the Spahn. However, the Spahn came back a 5 (no surface wrinkles) and the Robinson came back an 8 - GROSSLY OVERGRADED! Oh well, the money I'll loose on the Spahn, I'll make up on the Robinson.

Another instance of being consistently inconsistent... again. David, no offense but that Brooks does look a little rough. Does that top left have a ding? and the left border is rough too. That Spahn is sweet though. Looks like they should swap holders!

How much for the Spahn? It looks like the worlds finest 5. Inconsistant, that's an understatement. Let me know on the Spahn.
    Thanks,

Sorry Mickey71, this is no place to talk about the "Birds and the Bees" There are many books in your public library system that will help you out.

    Take care

And this is why the whole grading industry is a crock of s**t.

Grading is inherently subjective, not objective. Some graders might think a card is a "7", others an "8". There is not, and can never be, any consistency.

Look at the fact that when people post scans on this board asking what grade they think a card will receive there is never agreement. In fact, the range of peoples opinions is almost always two or three grades, with some people thinking its a "6", others a "7", and some an "8".

The grades given a card by PSA or any of the other grading companies are just someone's opinion on a given day at a given time. They are no more valid than your opinion or mine, or that of any other experienced collector!
