Miggie Tejada about to be investigated by the Feds.

Right out of the box, the congressional hearings yielded that Miguel Tejada will be investigated by the Justice Department for possibly lying to Congress regarding his alleged steroid use. This is a shot across the bow to MLB players, particularly Messrs. Clemens, Pettitte, and Knoblauch due to testify next month.

ESPN has a typo on their site saying that Congress has asked the DEFENSE DEPARTMENT to investigate Tejada. Heh.

Defense Dept, eah? I guess Congress is really getting serious about this stuff!

His brother was killed in an accident today, so this waste of our tax dollars is the least of his concerns at the moment.

Prayers go out to him and his family.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

These hearings and investigations are a waste of our tax dollars. More and more I agree with McGwire...its time to look forward.

Yankeeno7 is right. Our tax dollars are being wasted. However, Congress has been wasting our tax dollars for the better part of 200 years. Why stop now? So with that in mind, am I the only one that is taking a bit of pleasure in seeing that some players may have to finally face the music? e.g., not fines, not suspension, not ruined reputations, but actual, hard core prison time. I can't help but to think that what the Lord Giveth, the Lord Taketh Away, e.g. Congress finally being fed up and taking away baseball's anti-trust exemption.

  • It is time to move forward ONLY if the players union agrees to the most stringent testing possible! If not, then I will gladly donate an extra sum at tax time to go after these guys. Why?

Because I don't want my young ones to have to be in a position where the only way to compete with other athletes is to have to take stuff that is unhealthy. That is the direction sports are headed, if not already there(even at the HS level).

Some may say, then don't compete. That is b.s. I say compete and do it on your own ability. If you cannot do it on your own ability, THEN YOU ARE THE ONE WHO SHOULD NOT COMPETE! It is not the other way around.
  • I'm going to ask something here and hopefully I won't get assaulted for it.

Given what Tejada is going through, is there ANY possibility that what Palmeiro stated could have been true?

In particular, that he received a "B-12" shot from Tejada right before he turned up positive? And that he didn't know what was injected into him?

Just wondering. Still Palmeiro's fault even if what he states is true. Also, Canseco always referenced to the magic "B-12" shot in his book.

    Thanks for the responses

I think there are alot of ways to get extra B12 without having a buddy inject your in the butt. I don't know about you but I wouldn't stick anything in my buddies butts.
