    Not into baseball. Was lousy at it as a kid. In Denver where I grew up in the 50's-70's there was only the Denver Bears AAA team to watch. The only time I went to see a baseball game was on July 4 simply to see the post game fireworks display.

    For me, baseball is boring to watch on TV. When I have gone to see MLB games it is usually with family or friends or business folk as a social event. Conversation and relaxing with others is the primary purpose, with an occasional look at what is going on on the field.

    Baseball is a sport that requires one's attention for a few hours and one's intellect to understand and appreciate fully. If it does not grab your attention (like in my case), why bother. Similar in that vein to golf.

    For me, I prefer the power and brute force of football and (only when it is played at its best, mind you) the speed and balletic grace of basketball.

    I won't think of baseball until after the Super Bowl. I am looking forward to a Brewers NLCS though.
  • Baseball has never been a good sport to watch on television with most of the action just the ball going back and forth between the
    pitcher and catcher. With football there are many more options available at the start of each play to make it more unpredictable and interesting.

    I went to several minor league games last year and baseball is just more more enjoyable to watch that way.

    I ---

    1. Can't Dunk;
    2. Don't have any ball handling skills;
    3. Can't run a 4.3 40;
    4. Can't throw a 20 yard out;
    5. Can BARELY ice skate;

    But on one glorious days in my late 20s, I went to the local public park (with MLB size dimensions, 340 down the lines and 385 to center) and hit a cookie over the left field power alley (granted it was with a metal bat). But it felt nice and that is one of the reasons why I love baseball, irrespective of PEDs.

    What me worry?

    Plenty of time yet until baseball season begins...We'll discuss it in late March when I'm in more of a mood for baseball. Right now, even with my Eagles out of it, I'm still enjoying football season.

  • Wolfbear: You did notice the smile after my comment I hope. Football is still a tough game played by gladiators, but there have been so many rule changes to protect anyone that has the ball that it's not the all out war it used to be. Of course, the all out war meant that the average age of a pro football player was only 56. I read somewhere that "football is war and baseball is art". Baseball was my 1st love and always will be. Living in a solid Yankee area, I've have had to endure over 50 years of friends gloating year 'round. I'm enjoying a little payback immensely!!

    I'll also go out on a limb and declare the Mets will win the East, Santana will win 24 games for them and David Wright will be the MVP.
