This question was asked on the Q&A forum. Ron Guth said to use the regrade service.

Seems like something slabbed before the superlatives were even used should be updated for a modest fee rather than as a regrade.

  • What I'm worried about, is what if I have an ms67 dime that should also be a no brainer full band, but I fear it won't live up to today's ms67 standards. What if they regrade it 66fb? The grade should not drop as guaranteed on regrades, but if it is full band dime it should grade as so.

The designation and the grade are both covered under a regrade so your scenario could only happen if PCGS screwed up.

Bottom line, you can get the same thing done but now its costs $20 instead of $10. Hefty increase for low value coins like MS66 roosevelts.
