Wow, very sad. I met him multiple times. One of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. Loved to talk about anything, not just baseball. He also enjoyed handing out his auto. RIP Mr Podres

He told his teammates before game 7 with the Yankees...."just give me one run"..they gave him two and they won the world
series after being down 0-2. What a ball player!

    RIP

Johnny Podres was a do good local boy. He lived his life just one hour north of where I live in New York.
Maybe 10 years ago he was signing for free at a show. It was a blizzard outside and hardly nobody came...so we all had time to sit around and BS. Johnny would sign multiple times for people...he didn't care. We listened to him talk about the 55 series and baseball...who he thought was good......
He signed as 1955 ws mvp........I got a very nice personalized auto. He may be the nicest sports celebrity I have ever met. RIP mr podres.......you will always be remembered.
