Sight-Seen opinion of 1909 VDB PR64BN @ FUN

I thought I would drop in and let you all know how I felt about the recent 1909 VDB MPL cent that just went for $34,500 in the FUN auction. I viewed the coin in hand a few hours before the auction and was also in the floor audience when the coin was sold.

The coin was "very nice" for a PR64BN and worthy of the CAC sticker. It had a yellow gold obverse (lots of RD) with alot of luster reflecting off the surfaces. The dieline behind Lincolns coat was bold and easy to see under 8X viewing. Dielines in front of the nose were very obvious as was the marker to the right of M in Unum on the reverse. Problems like minor spoting shown of the obverse image didn't seem to distracting when viewing the coin in hand. The reverse had a light brown toning with subdued luster and the staining per the image was once again not all that distracting. I feel that his specimen could be an equal in value to most Red Brown coins because of it's very Red obverse and nice eye appeal. IMO, a not so nice Red Brown specimen might trade for less money than this coin. Overall, this coin was very nice for PR 64 Brown and I doubt any identical PCGS graded coin would top this one for quality!
