2008 Topps Heritage

Perhaps someone has already posted this information, so I hope I'm not repeating what I learned regarding the upcoming release of the 2008 Topps Heritage. The set is going to consist of 500 cards of which 75 are short-prints. However, the information that I have also indicates there will be 88 variation cards. The only thing I know about the variation cards is that they will have a black background. The insert cards are the same as years past with NAP, Then-And-Now, Flashbacks, and a new insert entitled, "News Flashbacks," which are cards depicting a famous event which occurred in 1959 (e.g. Alaska becomes the 49th state). Each box is supposed to contain a box loader of an advertising panel of a 3-card strip. Also, an original 1959 card in a one-card penny pack is inserted at the rate of one for every two boxes. In addition, one relic or autograph will be in each box. Chrome Parallel cards are to be issued this year with black-bordered, refractor, and chrome. IMHO the autograph selection is not what it could be. Nothing to compare with the 2001 autographs.

If you have questions regarding any more specifics, post and I will attempt to answer. --Craig in Ohio

That is exactly the same info. that I acquired today re '08 Topps Heritage. I understand that the release date is Feb. 25, but, like past yrs, it will probably be early Mar. before the product is actually out there. The one autograph/relic per box may make it more interesting for those buying boxes, but I think it may weaken the overall value if autographs are that easy to obtain since there may not then be many hi ticket autograph pieces. I open a lot of Heritage, and I don't think I pulled more than one autograph over the last two years combined.
