Got me a scanner: My Modern Crap (aka Jonny Gomes) Collection (100s of scans)

Spent a couple days scanning, and need to put them somewhere!

Anyways, some of the spacing may be a bit off, but I'm way too tired to correct it all now---maybe tomorrow.

I have 343 of his 481 cards (71%), or 298/319 (93%) excluding all the 1/1s.

The top row have IP/TTM autos, while the ones below are certified. The Gold auto of the letter row is /100, while the regular (white) one is /50. I don't know why...

It took my dial up over 10 minutes to load....well worth the wait. Good thing they aren't pairing up Gomes with Arod or Jeter
on any dual autos huh?

EagleEyeKid, he's had a great second half in 2005 (third in ROY voting, should have been higher), great first month in 2006 (12-14 HRs or something), and then has tanked with a shoulder injury. Hope he turns it around in 2008, but I'll just have to wait (and keep buying) in the meantime.

EagleEyeKid, thanks for hanging in there---those dual autos would be hell; I spent enough on the 6 and quad autos as it is (80 and 120 respectively:Yikes

I haven't paid any attention to baseball since the year 2000.
I'm just a hockey guy now. That's quite an accomplishment amassing
all those cards. Hope you get the rest you need of him. I can already
imagine the amount of time and money you've invested in it so far.

He should be back with his (hopefully) healed shoulder this year. He's probably going to be sharing RF with Baldelli since D. Young is gone. However, on the days he isn't in right he'll probably be DHing. Laugh all you want, but I'm seeing a bright future in St. Pete within the next few years.

I think that it is an amazing collection. You must continually be aware what is offered on Ebay. I collect Jose Lopez cards(I saw him here in San Antonio in Double A ball). I would never attempt to try and collect all of his cards though. A few of the limited editions do it for me. If he ever has a complete year, maybe he will become more collectible.

Goot, I hope so! I think he can at least be solid (say .270, 25 home runs), but all the same I won't hold my breath. It doesn't really affect my collecting, as I'll buy his cards whatever happens.

Tunispaul, it's probably the site I visit most per day. I can tell you without looking that there are currently two cards that will make me go broke, another two cards in a store that I lack but are way expensive and several autographed cards (not from card companies, but signed in person or through the mail) that I wouldn't mind having.

Estil, I saw him play AAA, where he was a hard working, good and exciting player. When I decided to collect cards, he was the logical choice.

BTW- I think Gomes can turn out to be a succesful power hitter if his shoulder woes stay behind him.

Just kidding! There's a great Jeremy Bonderman collection that someone has (forget who), and a Mark Brunell collection, which, outside of the music, is incredible. (Both are probably more complete.)
