NFL HOF RC Help -- Need images

Sorry for the crosspost, but wasn't quite sure where the best place for this would be.

I am looking to enlist the help of other board members as I undertake a new project. I am putting up a site that will feature the rookie cards of all of the NFL Hall of Fame members as well as brief bios on each member (whether they have a card or not).

The help I need is from anyone that can provide quality scan(s) of the RC's of the HOF members. Additionally, I would love to add images of the HOFers autograph, so anyone that may have these, please let me know.

To anyone that supplies images of PSA or PSA/DNA graded items, I will white-out the serial numbers and watermark the images so that no one attempts to use them for less than ethical purposes. I will also provide credit/thanks for anyone that wishes notation for their assistance.

I will be hosting the site at: www.halloffamerookiecards.com (and mirror sites at www.nflrookies.com, www.hofrookiecards.com, and hofrookies.com). The site is still under construction and no data ahs been uploaded, so don't be concerned if you go to check and find a place marker.

The goal is to provide a comphensive site for collectors of NFL Hall of Fame members. In time, I would also like to develop buying/selling/trading pages to accompany the blogging page. Alas, that is a ways off . . . let me get the skeleton frame done first.

Any help would be appreciated. PM if you wish to help.

I am sure most of the members here will help you.
A suggestion would be to try to get the highest grade you can so the card will be a high quality image.

I must admit, I do not have much of a collection of NFL players. In all of my years of collecting, I have been quite neglectful with regard to football. While I love the sport and follow it very closely, I didn't get too into it as I did with aspect of my baseball and hockey collections.

I got intrigued by the 1977 Topps Mexican Football set a couple of years ago and now I regret having been so ignorant in the past.

As I get older, I'm finding less interest in the profit of buying and selling cards and am realizing that I get more enjoyment out of collecting . . . truly collecting. And to my surprise, football collectors are very much like hockey collectors. There is a passion and a bond that doesn't exist with most baseball or basketball collectors.

The website will take some time to build and put together, but I have been given access by several to some great images, so I am very excited by the prospect of how this will turn out.

I've put a quick sample that I'm testing under the "Hall of Famers" section. Still trying to figure out the best way to organize and present the material, but once I've got that down, the site will follow shortly and will morph as more information and material becomes available.

The best thing out of all of this is that I'm beginning to work on two sets. I'm basically starting from scratch, but I'm going to begin a HOF RC set and a HOF Autograph set. I'm not going to be too concerned about condition, but completion will be my goal.

Thanks for everyone's help and hopefully, this project will be a helpful resource for many of you.

Here's a link to HOFers TEST page. The background colors and layout will change and an idex will be added, but hopefully you get the idea.

  • I think it looks great. My one suggestion would be to place the picture of the card above the name, and make it big enough to fill the left side from top to bottom with the picture name, and "overview".

    Yep, looking good.

Another idea...Maybe provide some links to highlight videos and/or unique stories about each player. You can find many of these for free around the web.

The card image is a thumbnail. With the volume of players and images that will be on the page, it would take forever to load if I put a large image of each card up. However, a simple click will provide a new window with a full sized image of the card. I'm thinking about having it just blow up when scrolled over, but I'll wait and see on that option.

I also plan to add more stuff to the players section, including links to alternative media (my fear is that these links may eventually be orphaned) and coordinating the background colors to that of their primary team.

Again, it's just in the infancy stages, but any input or constructive feedback is welcome.
  • Yeah, I thought that might be the reason you did it that way. If there's any way to incorporate a larger picture, I'd try to find a way to do it.

Hey Perkdog, any chance that the Perkies image could be there for the grand opening? image

Thanks for all of the input and offers of help so far. You folks are great. I've added a little more and I'm looking for video links (acceptance speeches, career highlights, etc). Additionally, I'd like to add cuts of each player's autograph (this will show up better than some of the autographed cards).

If any one has any video links they'd like to share, I will find a way to add them.

Currently, I expect to add a couple of players per day, more when time permits.

Added a slide show of some key cards to the home page of the site. Astute observes may notice some touchups . . .

    Link to the homepage.

As always, feedback and suggestions are welcome!
