Morgan ProofLikes

I recently upgraded a few of my morgans from MS64 to MS64PL. When I added the inventory, the response in the Morgan sets was "There was an existing item of higher grade." Does this make sense? I would have thought that MS64PL would beat MS64 any day.

  • Often the PL and DMPL will not carry more weight in most registry sets. It is easy to fix. Just go to edit set. As you scroll down to the date, you will see replacement choices. Your other coin should be listed as a choice. Just switch them out. I have to do this for my PL and DMPL's that are the same grade level as the coin I am replacing.

Right, but even if they don't carry more weight, they should still be considered a "higher grade" shouldn't they?
  • Most definately. It has nothing to do with value. The registry software just does not recognize the letters when assigning rank, only the numbers.
  • Do you have any pics or dates/grades that were upgraded for purposes of "drooling" over ?

My scanner does not do the coins justice...
