Refresh our memories on when and why so many of the Morgans had these big Xs gashed on them. Was it to discourge their removal from the casinos?

  • I know what that is...man I haven't seen one of those in forever! This is what we early collectors called "non-slab grading" ...instead of putting the coin in the plastic...they just carved the grade right into the coin so there was not a question as to the grade...this coin was probably going to be graded "XF"(very much overgraded...even for those days!)....but someone forgot the line on the top of the F image
