OT!! Any NON SPORT- war comic book collectors out there?

OT I know but I didnt know where to turn! Back in the early 80's I had a Large Comic Book which was filled with a bunch of comic stories ranging from Sgt.Rock to the Unknown soldier. What I remember about the book was it was mainly in Red White and Blue (soft cover) prolly aboutan inch and a half thick maybe? Any ideas what I had?
Thanks, Paul

Old time Comic Collector, but need more details, Era? Year about? Was it old when you were young? Any other details....., First guess would be, is it Star Spangled War Stories or something like that?

Yes Neil, I would say it was put out around '79-81? maybe? It was a volume like 2 inches thick of a bunch of comic stories from 50's through 70's and maybe early 1980? Red White and Blue, Star Spangled war stories sounds familiar... I might try an ebay search or google search on this.
Sounds like you had a special bound volume with reprints of a particular comic title... maybe, sgt rock, sgt fury, star spangled war stories, ect...

My guess is that you had a copy of "America at War" It was a comic sized trade paperback (simon & Schuster) and it had key stories for all the great DC war characters. It was also very patriotic looking, as you mention the red white blue theme. Search for that on ebay, there is a copy on right now. I only know this because I love war comics and recently and regrettably sold a copy of this book less than 6 months ago. It's a guess, but I bet it's a good guess!
Holy Crap, is it really worth $85?

if your copy is in decent shape, there is little chance it will decrease in value. For my experience, selling them on ebay is hit or miss, $85 one day, $17.21 the next. If you like the book, keep the book, at least for now. I only sold mine because I saw previous ones sell for lots, but mine was really nice and the $$ it sold for did not outweigh owning the book and getting to look through it.
perkdog, I hope that we figured out your mystery

Mine is probably only in G-VG shape as it was read several times over by a 12-year old(me). I will have to take it out and look at it. It would be hard to part with it just as my other war comics from the 70's and 80's.
My wife is from Minneapolis, but we are down here in Va near DC.
