Very cool medal. It's a commemorative of the "Gangut Battle" - first victory of the Russian Navy during the Great North War (1700-1721) against Swedes.

The saying on the back roughly translates "You truly cannot describe the heroism of Russian warriors... - Peter I"

That's all I can tell from the medal itself.

I like it and I thought it was Russian.
I picked it up today in an antique store for $34
hopefully I didn't over pay for it. If I did I still like it.
