Bad play calling doomed the Steelers

What the heck was Mike Tomlin thinking?

You go for two extra points there, it's a tie game. Also, when they got the ball back with about 4 minutes to play, they ran 3 straight times...bad move in hindsight when you were throwing all over that defense.
  • I know, 3 & ? Ben runs!!
1st down & steelers probably win.
Give to your paid running backs or pass

There was around 10 minutes to go at that point in the game, too risky to take the two point chance with that much time left and when
you miss a 2 pointer it can deflate a team emotionally and I think that happened.

going for 2 was the right call - it was the lob balls into the end zone corner that were questionable. get the ball to Miller on short plays like that. Ben running the ball on that last third down was a bad call too. needed that first down.

I can agree that going for 2 was a decent call (not great, but decent) after the TD, but after the holding penalty pushed the ball back to the 12, it was terribly ill-advised. They'd have gone to OT if the Steelers kick the PAT after that TD and again after the next TD. Instead, they were forced to try and "make up" that missed PAT after the second TD, and the odds were against them. Coaches go for 2 far too often at inappropriate times, IMO. And going for 2 from the 12 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter when you have regained momentum is one of those times, IMO.
