  • I dont know

At 40.00 a pack, I can pass on a Cedric the Entertainer rookie or Tony Curtis second year card.

The autographs look great, but are probably a tough pull at 40 a pop.....

  • At first I thought it would be fun. However, it might be a safer bet to buy any singles that I am really interested in.

Stand on the sideline and watch the nice pulls and just pick up the set as folks get rid of the base cards. That's what I'll probably do as well.

Here's a link to another thread in the non-sports forum with someone that picked up a case and should be receiving it shortly. Donruss Americana

  • I don't know what a box costs, but only 3 cards have brought over $150 in a sale since going live and only 3 others currently have a $150 bid.

I think I would rather throw some money at multiples of
some of the singles that I think might have some future value.

ALL of the base stuff is junk; no matter how "limited" it is.

There is also some comparative-history on the TOPPS American Pie
series. Graded examples sell for little more than raw cards that would
    grade-out the same.

IF you do not like the "star" and want to own it for a LONG time, the
cards are prolly not a worthwhile buy.

If you google "donruss americana," you can see that there are TONS
of varieties. Some are a little more interesting than others, but they
are likely not going to have a serious aftermarket value until most of us
    are croaked.

QUESTION: Does anybody recall our discussion of "business leaders"
auto cards. I looked ALL OVER America for them and could not find
them. People looked at me like I was nuts when I inquired. (They
were cards of Gates and Buffet, etc.)

  • I've seen some opened at my store and I would say go after the singles that you want instead of dropping a ton of money on packs/boxes. Once again they didn't do a lot of this product correctly. When I get a dual auto of Ron Howard/Henry Winkler I want it to be a pic from Happy Days and not some photo's from 10 years ago. These companies just don't get it.

With my luck, my "big pull" would be the David Faustino auto card...

Great idea, but too bad they used band-aids for autographs.

  • I got a box coming paid 140 for it. Looking forward to ripping it.

If that is the big hit, I will be passing big time on this product. Beckett has a video of a rip up on their website right now. Watched one box opened, but the actual video is close to 30 minutes!

boxes seem to be going around the $115-130 range. i was just sent a second chance offer for $60 for a sealed box. doesn't make sense.

    Thanks,

  • Are you sure it wasn't a retail box? Theres a guy selling "retail" boxes on eBay right now and just glancing at the auction, you think you would be getting a hobby box, but after reading the small print, it is a retail box. I didn't know they would produce retail boxes when the hobby boxes only have 4 packs.

i think they are retail....that's probably the difference.

watched that live 3-box bust. looks like crap. not sure i'd be interested in opening any pack where there's even a REMOTE possibility of pulling this face.......

It has legs because of the Star Wars people.

    I will buy it, too.
