Mexican Peso Question

Hi...I don't have a Krause catalog and was wondering something...I have several of the large Mexican 1 Peso coins from 57-62 and thought they were like 10% silver...could someone let me know the silver content of these and an approximate value? I say a few of them in a dealers foreign bargain bin for a buck apiece and thought if these was a good deal I might pick them up to add to the ones I already have.

Thanks!

Those are made with a very low silver content, .100 fine, and they tone something wicked image Issued from 1957 to 1963 with mintages over 25,000,000 each of those years. You can pick them pretty cheap. As you've mentioned, lots of dealers have these in their $1 boxes. You should be able to pick-up UNC examples for under $25.

Save the bucks and buy more coins! The people here are understanding and more than willing to help! If you really want to spend some money go ahead and buy the "real" books, at least you have something to flip through, and last I heard the price of paper (like silver and gold) is on the upswing! image

My 1990 KP is still doing quite well by me because of the combined years and not having to lug around 2-3 books that is contained in my one volume just to look up common stuff. The prices do change but if you look at the mintages and go from there you will know a "rare" coin when it shows up without having to shell out huge sums of money for the new books or discs...

    Have a happy!
