<< <i>I like except,... the eye and eye lash/brow doesn't look right it looks almost fish like. IMO >>

But winged hair is ok with you?

This is a pretty wild design. I see why he had to make it himself. I like it. very cool.

Winged hair is cool, I'm just saying maybe softened the eye(IMO)
Maybe the actual coin will not be so pronounced.
Otherwise I like it very much

Looks nice, yet different in a way that I cannot seem to describe...

Gah, I hate thinking in the wee hours of the morning! Off to bed!
  • I like Dan's designs... have several myself... they seem maybe ahead of their time... like 22nd century type designs.

    nice stuff.

Very nice, evocative of classic Mesoamerican art with a twist of Vegas on the side!

    We enjoy Carr's coin designs.
But here Liberty exudes the hidden sex of a Mona Lisa.
The lure of a siren leading to death on a rocky shore.
In coins there must be a sublime message of purity
    and God like perfection.
OK, maybe a little hankee pankee is ok.
A wonderfull wife. and pretty kids. a chair a book.
A cozy nook. A fire, at least its embers. A dog a glass
and thus we pass such hours a one remembers.

Thanks for the postings. I noticed from the original post here that I had the wrong diameter listed on my page (should be 34mm for this one).

Yes, I wasn't quite finished tweaking it and I knew I'd have to do something about the eye.
    Here is the latest:

    Hmm...
I'm not sure what to make of that. But thanks for comparing my work to the Mona Lisa !

"UNA" is seen here as a seductive force bringing the idea of the "Union of North America".
Three stars symbolize the partners in the Union (Canada, USA, Mexico). But no matter how
much control the government exerts on our lives, there will always be freedom of thought
    (ideas taking flight).

Not sure yet, I'm working on that now. Perhaps similar to last year's Ameros, but with revisions.

I think your previous Amero design is pretty cool too. >>

    Thanks,
There will be some in copper, silver and gold.
So far, I've decided on the following for sure:
    25mm copper 1-Amero
    38mm copper 20-Ameros
    25mm silver 25-Ameros (1/4 troy oz 999)
    38mm silver 100-Ameros (1 troy oz 999)
    34mm gold 1000-Ameros (1 troy oz 9999)

I may make a 1/2 oz silver, 1/2 oz gold, and intermediate copper sizes.
I might also make a 1/10 oz gold and a big 4-oz 2.5" silver. Not sure yet.

Innovative but weird. More fine detail in the hair, ear, etc would make it look less like clip art. Stars would look better in higher relief with radial lines brought up.

I get the impression she's much more fierceful than Mona Lisa. This is a hardened woman, a liberated femme, one representative of the new age: Independent, self-confident, secure. Look at those eyes...check out the hairdo and the ear rings. These images exude self-direction and self-determination (imho).

I like it- a definite improvement over the other Amero designs.

PS- "winged hair" is okay by me... heck, I came of age in the 1980s, in the era of "feathered" hair and parachute pants! image

UNA? Is that what you're calling her? That's a fortuitous acronym.

"Una" has a good track record in numismatics, if the British "Una and the Lion" is considered:

It is like an update of the 100-year-old French "Rooster" gold. I like this design a lot.

Any coin with the name UNA attached to it deserves a Darkside cross-posting.

    Wow, free advertising, thanks !

    PS:
Most people refer to this whole affair as "NAU" (North American Union).
But I decided to use "Union of North America" for the sole purpose of being able to call it "UNA" instead.

"Una" has a nice ring to it.

And I do like the design. I poked gentle fun at the other designs, with cracks like "Liberty needs a good chiropractor", but they ain't bad.

I really like this one, though.

Thanks, no problem on the criticism. The various comments about the 2007 designs got me working hard to make a better design this year.

I figured my criticism was pretty tame compared to the rest of the Hal Turner hoopla. image

UNA just made me realize it was time to bump the UNO thread back to the top.

The mouth is too small. Does look like that of a fish.

As to a name, how about calling her "Weena"?

Una, written Oona is an Irish name. It's also Numero uno in the feminine case Una.

    Daniel Carr:

The eagle's talons lack detail. They look like footpads. The breast and feathers have too little detail compared to the topography of North America. Higher relief possible?

    But the design is awesome.

Ok, I made a new version with different talons. The previous talons were buried in the Earth, but nobody could tell 'cause there was no blood coming out. image

Looks better the new way. I also enhanced the feather detail.

    Here is a copper one:
