You pick a 4-man team for a baseball game.
You can pick ANY player, living or deceased to play
(In other words a fantasy team):
1 outfielder
1 infielder
1 pitcher
1 catcher
Who do you pick?
Let the games begin!

I take Chuck Norris for all of the above.
Jason Giambi-IF
Roger Clemens-P
Paul Lo Duca- C
Inf-Albert Pujols
OF-Ken Griffey Jr
P-Bob Gibson
Sweet Morsels Toffee and Chocolates
Ozzie Smith
Walter Johnson
Johnny Bench
Steve
P Satchel Paige
I Ozzie Smith
O Willie Mays
Satchel was an easy choice given his experience pitching with his fielders sent to the dugout.
Ozzie would get to anything in the infield and hold the batter to a single.
Willie would chase down that rare fly ball to the outfield and provide offense for when we bat.
Josh would give Satchel a familiar target behind the plate and also provide offense for the 1-0 win.
OF: Babe Ruth (because he could also help out at pitcher)
IF: Alex Rodriguez (great hitter and he's adequate in the field)
P Greg Madduz (good pitcher and can field)
C Johnny Bench (10 straight gold gloves)
IF-Arod
P-Johan Santana
C-Josh Gibson
IF - Honus Wagner
P - Sandy Koufax
C - Johnny Bench

Remember these Chuck Norris Facts
1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

C--Joe Mauer
My team would kick most of these other teams arses...I mean, most of the other teams guys listed are either dead, past their prime or well retired.
Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
I think the pitcher is the easiest answer. Being that there are only two fielders, you want the pitcher who it was hardest to put the ball into play on...Nolan Ryan.
Catcher defense makes no difference as there is no need to try and steal in what would be such a high scoring environment. The risk of a CS would be too high, so I would take the best hitting catcher, with an emphasis on contact and batting average...Bill Dickey.
Infielder. It would have to be a guy who could really go get 'em, AND have a high rate of efficient contact and batting average. Power numbers would mean little in this game. A player who could shoot line drives all over the place would be the most valuable. I too would go with Honus Wagner.
Outfielder, same thing as the infielder, and I would go with Ty Cobb or Willie Mays. I would be more confident in Mays getting to balls, outweighing Cobb's advantage over more contact, so I go with Mays.
Ryan
Dickey
Wagner
Mays

I am intrigued by your answer. Im not sure why but it surprises me that you would pick Ryan ahead of some other choices.

Any ground ball hit anywhere but SS is a sure hit...in fact even if it is hit right at the SS with nobody on, it is also a sure hit. Who is he going to throw it to?
So we need a pitcher who has the best chance of striking a guy out, or popping him up. Who cares if he walks a guy, because that is only one base, as opposed to two or more on any ohter hit. Plus it gives a chance for a force out on a ball hit to the SS.
So in a game where a hit is extremely bad, and a walk not such a bad thing, I am going to take the guy who is the all time leader in least amount of hits per nine innings...
Nolan Ryan.
It is amazing that Nolan Ryan, who played so long and pitched over 5,000 innings, is still the ALL TIME leader in a rate stat such as hits per nine innings. His high base on balls totals is what made him lesser than the other greats...but in this game a base on balls is a very minor offense, but a batted ball for a hit is a killer, hence the choice of Nolan Ryan. I also like his chances of batted balls being pop outs, or jam shots.
<< <i>Any batted solid hit ball into one of the two outfield spots vacated is a sure double, a virtual lock triple, and a good chance at a home run.

I guess i forgot the point that these were our only 4 players. It makes more sense now.
