This is getting ridiculous. They are chasing ghosts. They can say anything they want cuz there is no PROOF. One person's word vs anothers? That doesnt fly. Maybe McGwire was right...its time to move forward.

<< They can say anything they want cuz there is no PROOF >>

Don't want to get caught lying to congress, even if the chance of proof materializing is remote. Proof sometimes shows up in the strangest ways...

They are probably asking for Petite to get him turn on Clemens - 2 against 1 will be as good as proof. Petite has already come clean about himself, he'll have to do the same with regards to Clemens.

I'm not giving these idiots a pass for coming clean by saying either "I never knowingly took them" or "I only tried them once" ... who are they trying to fool?

Edited to add ... at this point McGwire still looks good in the stance he took.

Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
  • I expect Pettitte to tell them exactly what he told the press. Roger on the other hand...image

I know, how much tax money is this costing? If MLB wants to clean up its act for the sake of fair competition that's one thing, but we really don't need to be using parts of our pay checks on this.

Blatant steroid use in the pros promotes blatant steroid use in colleges, which promotes steroid use in high school. It is really pervasive, dangerous - and merits a few more hours of congress' attention. Besides, they'd probably spend the time with lobbyists otherwise.

Bosox is 100% correct. You can't argue it's "just sports" when in fact it is a multi billion dollar industry that has an antitrust exemption granted to it under federal law. Thus, it is under federal oversight and scrutiny, and when their employees start breaking other federal laws (drug and steroid abuse) in a blatant, pervasive way, you bet Congress should have some concern about it. I have no problem with it at all.
