WTB: 1901-S dime

Lonely barber dime set seeking a full strong rim 1901-S dime to fill the void in my... album. The absolute most important factor is physical apperience; I guess I'm shallow.

G-F is optimum. I might concider grades up to AU.

P.S. I already know about the one at JJ Teaparty. Scratched on the cheek. :-(

  • come on now you can't exclusively be the only person who wants one of these! plus it helps you by bringing it to the top!image

There's little difference in what you did than if I were standing at a show negotiating a price on a coin and someone were to ask to buy it while I was working a deal. I created a post to activly seek a coin out, you didnt. Your posting here that you want the same coin is at the very least, rude.

I have to agree with LincolnCentMan, very poor form. He was the one who made the post looking for one, and you would possibly steal his opportunity at one. If you want one, make your own post. Very rude and poor taste, IMO.

Here's my opinion, for whatever it's worth......
I understand this is LCM's thread, but by answering publicly cartwheel is stating he has one for sale (I may be presuming this) to everybody.
Maybe future replies to WTB threads should only be by PM?

Anyway, on the surface it does look like bad form for marz, but at least he was public about his want of this coin.
What if he just PM'ed cartwheel & said "I'll pay more than LCM"? Wouldn't that be worse form? Yet not known to members.

Here's what I would suggest, LCM has first 'dibs' on any coin resulting from this thread.
If a deal is not consumated, then marz can try to make a deal for it.

The 'damage' has been done, let's learn from it & maybe make new procedures for WTB threads.
    Like replies in PM only.
If the seller of the coin wants to sell it to anyone, then he should create a thread and link it to the WTB thread.

  • The issue is now moot; LincolnCentMan has purchased the coin. Anyway, anyone who has dealt with me knows I won't play two potential buyers off against one another. I'm not suggesting Marz would try anything underhanded (far from it), but LincolnCentMan had the right of first refusal from the moment I contacted him.

P.S. I have some other nice raw coins for sale, including Barber dimes.

I'm still activly seeking a sharp rim example. I'm a strong buyer if it's a nice one.

    Thanks,
    -David
  • ajai is a good man. glad LCM found one as well. I want one in AU-53 or better anyway and will pay up if I am offered one with eye appeal.
