Value? Sorry- the only Krause volumes in front of me at the moment are the 18th and 19th century ones.

Here is something I sometimes do to take a quick look at a dark photo listed on eBay, this way also shows marks from cleaning in most cases. I simply reversed the colors, it only takes me a couple of seconds to do.
The Standard Catalog of German Coins (2nd edition) lists the J mintmark (Hamburg) with the highest mintage of any of the mints for that year at 11.21 Million produced. 5.00 in XF, 35.00 in UNC. I would guess with the damage maybe a couple of bucks unless the market has really taken off on these since the 2nd edition came out. I do not have a current Krause handy at the moment...

The mintmark is the tiny letter, just above the tail-end of the "2". You've got the coin in hand; can you confirm the mintmark?
I also note a major disparity in Krause between EF and Unc prices. The prices in EF come down to $6, $6 and $7.50 respectively. So it appears to matter a great deal whether it's genuinely uncirculated or not. It's really too hard to be sure from those photos, so I'd have to err on the side of caution and say it's at least AU. No idea what to do with an AU price, based on Krause; suggest halfway between the EF and Unc prices as a ballpark ($33, $35 and $70 respectively).

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
Guess he wanted another opinion since our's wasn't good enough!!
