2006 20th Anniversary W. Satin Proof 70 Grade?

Ok here's a toughy, I have 2 coins in my collection that are questionable grades of ms 70. If I sent my coin/coins back to both grading companies ICG and NGC because I feel they were overgraded. What is the fair market value for the 2006 20th anniversary satin proof/burnished die silver bullion eagle coin?

Will I receive the market value of a ms 70 coin? Although both coins seem to be perfect, the Ngc coin has a little scratch on the rim at 11:00pm and is shiny when tilted. And the Icg coin has a pen hole in the dress/skirt. I don't know if this takes away the 70 grade. Do you guys think this will knock the grade down?

One more thing do you think both companies would replace my coin if they feel that there was a mistake?

Both companies are very loose on the 70 grade and many have 1 or 2 minor flaws as you described. You might get something from NGC. The pin hole is still considered as struck.
  • You'd be better off saving your money. Even if re-grades are free, they still cost S/H. I had a golg eagle graded NGC PR 70, but right in the middle of the field is a contact pit from something. I sent it back to do what you're saying. I described the "Problem" and they returned it to me saying, "That's how it left the mint, so the grade is correct."

I think you need to stick the grading service into that factor. An ICG 70, an NGC 70, and a PCGS 70 are all quite different things. Also, I am not aware of ICG or NGC giving grade guarentees where they pay you he difference when they agree a coin is overgraded by them.

Did you submit these? Or buy them sight seen? Sight un-seen?

    << <i>NGC COIN GRADING GUARANTEE

The grading of coins is subjective and solely reflects the opinions of the NGC graders. All coins submitted to NGC shall be examined in accordance with NGC grading procedures. In the event that any owner or subsequent purchaser of an NGC coin believes that a coin has been over-graded by NGC with respect to such procedures, such person may submit the coin to NGC through its "Appearance Review" service for a review of the assigned grade. If the grade determined under such review in NGC's sole opinion is ultimately lower than that originally assigned to the coin, NGC shall, at NGC's option, either exchange the coin in question with an equivalent coin at the earlier higher grade or pay the difference between the current fair market value of the coin at the newly established grade and the current fair market value of the grade originally assigned to such coin. Due to the volatile nature of the coin market and Internet auctions/sales, the selling prices in these auctions/sales do not necessarily represent the current fair market value of any particular coin. NGC will determine the current fair market value of a coin based upon what NGC believes, in its sole opinion, to be reliable current market information. NGC's subjective determination of fair market value shall be binding on all parties. Removal of a coin from its NGC holder, or tampering with the holder, nullifies this Guarantee. If requested, NGC will remedy any clerical error with respect to the description or grade of a coin on its label, free of charge. >>

Submitted one at Ngc and bought the Icg coin on Teletrade. It does state on ICG they have a guarantee that they will replace or give market value.
