Question about the SONY HVL-RLS 1.5 WATT MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY RING LIGHT

Has anyone used this for coin photography? Is it a good ring light for the "average Joe" collector? I am not going to be entering any contests; I just want a good ring light. Thanks!

If it screws onto you camera lens 52mm and it's like a circular flourescent, I didn't like it. Besides being pricy, it washed out any 3d effect you might get from a single directional light. I returned it in a heartbeat. Someting like that would be good for jewelry or where a 3d effect isn't neccesary.

The light is too non-directional for my tastes. Washes out all of the contrast on coins. Stick to a couple desklamps.
