Cowboys getting spanked by the Redskins

Not the kind of momentum you want going into the playoffs.

Although the starters played, it was as if they didn't field a team. They stunk it up.

Other than the two playoff teams everyone expected to show up -- the Pats (for 16-0 and because Belichick never lets up, period) and the Pack (because Favre doesn't come out of a game unless his kidneys are leaking out of his side) -- the other playoff teams all didn't care and stunk up the joint. Yeah, the Chargers won, but it was mostly because the Raiders are just so bad that they undercame San Diego's indifference.

Colts don't seem to care much, either. Sorry, Cleveland. Too bad you aren't in the NFC. At 10-6 in a better conference you deserve better than that.

Well, yeah, but they were playing the Patriots. They had good reason to be motivated, to be remembered as the spoilers of a "dream season" like the 1985 Dolphins. Plus, I identified the Pats as a playoff team that showed up. Belichick would try to hang 50 on someone in a meaningless game even if it meant risking injury to his whole team -- that's just the way he is.

But the Giants pretty much disappeared after taking a 28-16 lead, didn't they?

Granted the Cowboys team didn't have much to play for ... except for maybe pride, momentum, and the good old fashioned Redskins rivalry.

However they did field their starting team. They even kept their starters in through most of the third quarter so a few of the guys could try to get the individual season records they were going for.

Romo was going after a personal record, and he was obviously frustrated when they finally pulled him out. Most Redskin fans were more worried about Brad Johnson anyway ... he stilll has a big axe to grind with the Skins for letting him go, although he seemed pretty rusty coming off the bench.

Whitten didn't get the 6 catches he needed, and the running back only needed something like 20 yards (going into the game) to break the 1000 yard rushing mark. He didn't get it either.

The only records the Cowboys got last night were some new all time low team stats. They gained a total of 1 rushing yard for the entire game, and they completed 0 third downs attempts. Portis was also the first running back to rush for over 100 yards on them this season.

Motivated or not motivated ... from where I was sitting, it looked like a good old fashioned butt whooping!

    Hail to the Redskins!!

They didn't set their stars, but they should have. Romo and Whitten were playing well into the 3rd quarter......which I think surprized everyone. Romo even got hurt a little at the end of the first half.

    Looking forward to the playoffs.

no one's mentioned them but what happened to the Seahawks?? giving up 44 points to the Falcons was terrible......and I picked them to win the NFC...don't think that is going to happen now....

Dallas isn't nearly the same team without TO. Terence Newman being out on D weakens them a lot too (because of who plays behind him). They also sat a few other starters, and Glenn didn't play much (not that he has all year).

edited to add: They need to bring in Gene Hackman as a receivers coach. If you've seen The Replacements and you've watched Miles Austin play, you know what I mean. That guy is the real life version of Clifford Franklin.

They already clinched the #1 seed; why should they have?
