I'm a bad, bad, person.....

UtahCoinUtahCoin Posts: 5,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have several nieces nephews (39 at last count), most of whom are good kids (all between 10-30 yrs old). One in particular is the laziest young man I have ever met. 22 years old, can't keep a job (never HIS fault), lives at home and thinks the world owes him nice things. He wants to buy a $10,000 car, and asked me to "loan" (like I'd ever see it again) him 10K. Well, being in the holiday mood, I told him I would send him $10K in cash as a gift, no repayment necessary.

This is what I sent him .

Link

Odd, I have not heard back from him....
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

    edited to add;
The 20 something generation amazes me. Had an employee come to my desk saying he needed to blow his nose. He asked if I had anything he could use. image This action screams, Take care of me, I can't take care of myself. Whata shame. image

I like it - I may have to use that someday myself.

But if the kid is resourceful, he will sell it for $40 or more and then all he has to do is figure out how to come up with the other $9,960.

Wonder how long he will spend trying to put it back together? That type usually think they can accomplish things like that, but it is impossible to put up with the toils of "Do You want katsup with that?"

If such a verbal contract was legally enforceable, considering there is no clear equitable bilateral exchange of consideration. Creative lesson for the lazyass nonetheless.

A waste?? I've spent more than that at a comedy club and didn't laugh as hard as I did when I pictured him opening the box with the card that simply said, "$10,000, just as I promised".

I'm going to have to rig a trick paper shredder in my office, pre-load some of that shredded paper in the waste bin, and keep a supply of cash on hand. Just for the right opportunity.

Yeah, that Washington state Anderson family slayings come to mind. Have to agree that even the thought of it is priceless.

    You'd be surprised.

I remember thinking something similar when my 19 year old buddy took a loan out to buy a new WRX.

I could get a ten thousand dollar car with my statehood quarters .... If I could get retail image
  • After my father died I checked out his computer to see if anything needed backed up or deleted or whatever. I saw some emails from a relative who Dad had loaned money to that was never repaid. After the fact the relative tried to convince my father to buy in on the bottom of a pyramid scheme and how it was a sure thing, etc, etc.

Boy did I get steamed when I read all that. I was scared to see the reply but basically it said, "If you ever pay back what you owe me then we can talk about any future loans"

Loaning money to relatives is not good. Helping them get a loan is another thing entirely.

Bochi, I agree... people in Washington are so naive and spineless (the major portion east of the Cascades and west of the Olympics), they want no punishment until something happens to them... then they scream and yell.... The Seattle wimpettes really p*ss me off most of the time... Cheers, RickO

Can you at least give him enough glue to make papier mache ?

On second thought maybe you shouldn't - he might make a projectile launcher model and send it to you as a vague reminder of your generosity. image

    Thats funny.

Would have been even better to buy bag... preload into paper shredder. Then feed a few $1's into shredder on video. Send him video and loose money. He would have really flipped his wig.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

    Awesome!

Just last week my sister actually invited me, my wife and daughter to join her family for a vacation at Disneyland - then had the nerve to ask me to pay for everybody! She actually prefaced the request with "I don't want to be known as the mooch of the family but..."

My response - "Too Late!" image

Of course, now I'M the bad guy.

I've always wanted to buy uncut sheets of currency (low denomination) to use as Christmas wrap.. but forget to each year..

Wish you could buy them for face value from the Fed Reserve branches.

Can just imagine my family's response when they see it under the tree. LOL
