I have several nieces nephews (39 at last count), most of whom are good kids (all between 10-30 yrs old). One in particular is the laziest young man I have ever met. 22 years old, can't keep a job (never HIS fault), lives at home and thinks the world owes him nice things. He wants to buy a $10,000 car, and asked me to "loan" (like I'd ever see it again) him 10K. Well, being in the holiday mood, I told him I would send him $10K in cash as a gift, no repayment necessary.
This is what I sent him .

Odd, I have not heard back from him....

I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

edited to add;
The 20 something generation amazes me. Had an employee come to my desk saying he needed to blow his nose. He asked if I had anything he could use. This action screams, Take care of me, I can't take care of myself. Whata shame.

Thus wasting $9,955 less than could have otherwise been the case.
I like it - I may have to use that someday myself.
But if the kid is resourceful, he will sell it for $40 or more and then all he has to do is figure out how to come up with the other $9,960.

If such a verbal contract was legally enforceable, considering there is no clear equitable bilateral exchange of consideration. Creative lesson for the lazyass nonetheless.

...lest we forget four dollars, ninety-five cents in shipping/handling charges.
I told my ex all the time not to reward bad behavior. I wish she would pay the 30 grand in back child support. I'm not the judge, but Coxe is pretty funny.

A waste?? I've spent more than that at a comedy club and didn't laugh as hard as I did when I pictured him opening the box with the card that simply said, "$10,000, just as I promised".

Yeah, that Washington state Anderson family slayings come to mind. Have to agree that even the thought of it is priceless.

<< <i>What kind of a dumbazz wants to spend $10k on a new car when they can't hold down a job at 22? >>
You'd be surprised.
I remember thinking something similar when my 19 year old buddy took a loan out to buy a new WRX.

Boy did I get steamed when I read all that. I was scared to see the reply but basically it said, "If you ever pay back what you owe me then we can talk about any future loans"
Loaning money to relatives is not good. Helping them get a loan is another thing entirely.

That was just a few miles from me......things like that happen and people still don't want the death penalty to apply
That was tragic and then some

The bastage .... OUT HIM !
Unfortunately I don't think he will learn anything from it.
On second thought maybe you shouldn't - he might make a projectile launcher model and send it to you as a vague reminder of your generosity.

Thats funny.
Would have been even better to buy bag... preload into paper shredder. Then feed a few $1's into shredder on video. Send him video and loose money. He would have really flipped his wig.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
Wish my mind was as imaginative as yours.

You certainly know how to win enemies and influence moochers.
Just last week my sister actually invited me, my wife and daughter to join her family for a vacation at Disneyland - then had the nerve to ask me to pay for everybody! She actually prefaced the request with "I don't want to be known as the mooch of the family but..."
My response - "Too Late!"
Of course, now I'M the bad guy.

I've always wanted to buy uncut sheets of currency (low denomination) to use as Christmas wrap.. but forget to each year..
Wish you could buy them for face value from the Fed Reserve branches.
Can just imagine my family's response when they see it under the tree. LOL
