I think I made a good trade today.

I traded this and $50.00

And in return I got a complete set of this, with the sticker set, and every card in the set was in a penny sleeve and card saver. I love it, I almost want to send the whole set in. Sorry about how crappy the scans look but I didnt want to take them out of the sleeves or card savers.

Awesome! As long as your happy. I'd trade what basketball cards I have for a Mantle anyday.

    Cheers!

  • What jordans do you have?

Personally I'd have kept the Mantle , but I am not a basketball fan .

As long as you're happy , that's what counts .

Congratulations on your trade , they're very nice looking cards and appear to be in great condition from what I can see .
  • I wouldn't have made the trade/cash, but if you're happy...

The Mantle is a double print, there are thousands. Inexpensive and easily replaced. I like the Jordan sticker, they're tough in good condition.

    Looks like a fair trade.

I agree that it was a pretty fair trade. Sets I checked on completed auctions ranged from a $105 buy it now (too low in my opinion) to $164, so since you paid $60 for the Mantle and added $50 cash, id say all parties are right in the ballpark, giving you the slight edge because I felt that you overpaid for the Mantle. It was really like giving him a $40 Mantle and $50 cash IMO.

Also, that Mantle can be had for 80.00 (last 2 ebay sales) in PSA 5 and centered too.

I think that Mantle is a triple printed card, not a dbl.

I think the trade was a good one.

Definitely a fair trade on the value side I suppose , I don't really care about the value all that much because I never sell anything .

I don't have any vintage Mantles so I'd like to have the Mantle .

I will be looking at the card show in White Plains Jan 18th

I'd like to pick up something mid grade just so I can have it in the collection .

The funny thing about me is , some day I'll just wind up giving it away . . so the value really means nothing .

I saw some amazing cards at a pawn shop the other day , that I would like to get , one was a Montana rookie ungraded but really high quality and the other was an incredible 52 Topps Eddie Mathews also ungraded but appeared to be in great shape .

The price was 275 for the Montana and a whopping 5 grand for the Mathews , but said those are both negotiable . . . does anyone know what those cards are going for these days , those cards have been sitting there for a long time with nobody even asking about them .

Anthony, Was it nicer than this one
  • TNTonPMSTNTonPMS Posts: 2,279 ✭✭
Wow , way nicer than that one !

The card is in a solid protector and the borders appeared to be better centered and the edges appeared to be in way nicer condition, I would probably grade it an 8 .

They might not be open today but I will see if I can take a pic if they are , I guess the thing could be worth 5 grand then , because this guy is lookin to get 3500 for that one .

Thank you for the heads up there Nick , I really appreciate it

Anthony, This one sold for $4,376 plus buyers premium, and it looks to be sharper than a PSA 5 but obviously has a problem somewhere. (like the one at the pawn shop might). Just trying to help so you don't go handing this guy your hard earned dough, unless you want to.

sorry.. I looked right past that like an idiot..
  • Nice trade, I was always a fan of the 1987 Fleer Set. That Jordan looks nice and will probably net you a PSA 8 with an outside shotn at a 9 (Top Bottom Centering may be off).

  • If the card would grade at least a 7, offer to grade it, and take 50% of anything over $5,000 (if you can't afford it yourself).
  • I think that was a good trade.

    Nice Jordan.

Mmm hmmm, Yea man I know what yer sayin , I have seen it there for a very long time , it is right next to where I pick up my scripts so I stop in there monthly to see if anything is new or whatever , those are always there , but a lot of times people are goin there lookin for cash and not really lookin to spend , that PSA 5 is about it's equal Nick , I'm almost certain . . It would probably have been sold if someone interested seen it and had the cash .

I think that is a sweet lookin 5 though
