I just renewed my ANA membership for another year...

The main reason why I renewed is because I like what I am hearing, and more importantly, seeing from our new president, Barry Stuppler. Even though he is a corporate suit and I am anti-establishment, I think he is moving the ANA in the right direction. The Board of Governors is doing a good job so far, too. I wanted to renew my membership so I can maintain my voice in the organization, and if things go awry, I can vote the bums out in the next election.

You are an optimistic person; I salute you for that.

I'll renew for a second year.

    1. The Numismatist is a good read.

    2. There are tons of great books to borrow from the library and the staff there are really pleasant to deal with.

I'm probably lucky I'm ignorant of the politics and players.
I can just concentrate on having fun with my hobby.

  • I have never joined but have thought about it. The last 4 years with what I have read in various publications has kept me from joining. The one thing thats really bothered me, was the 50 Year Recoginition Gold medal. That just seemed really tacky to me.

With what I read now I may consider it this year.?????

I agree with you, Longacre. After thinking about it for quite a while, I decided to re-up especially after they cleaned house. As a member since 1976, this decision did not come lightly. Hopefully, they're getting back on the right track.

    Longacre:

I agree with you. So far I generally support every decision of the new board that I know of. I think they have done well in undoing many of the misguided endeavors of the previous board and Executive Director. I am a tad surprised that Mr. Stuppler is taking the positions he is given the fact that he was a member of the previous board. I wish he had shown more independence during the previous years. Anyway, as I said, I am surprised but I am pleased that he seems to have changed directions. I believe I have another year on my membership and I shall surely renew in a year when my membership expires.
