Has the current grading service turmoil left an opening for PCGS?

Should PCGS be thinking about making "economy" submissions much easier by making them direct?
If that were the case I'd probably take all of my non-PCGS slabs and raw coins and send them in to grade/cross at any grade. I've had it with the other brands.

You don't submit to PCGS, obviously. That's how it's done.
I read a while back you don't collect anymore, either.

<< <i>I don't view ANACS as a competitor to PCGS. It's like a Chevy dealership trying to compete with a Mercedes dealership. The two are in different leagues. If I were David Hall, I would just sit back and watch as the new, new ANACS implodes or never quite gets off its feet, if past history is any guide. >>
At first blush, I'd agree with you. The problem is there are really only three or four grading Services whereas there are dozens of auto makes, the two you listed being only a couple among them.
By default, if ANACS were to perish PCGS would pick up more business, thus ANACS is a competitor with PCGS.

I still have some type coins, most of which I intend to give to my nephew. All of them are very nice and correctly graded coins, but they aren't in PCGS plastic. I also have a medal collection, though I realize that many coin collectors don't pay any attention to those.

And not only that, but if other TPGs who are at least perceived as "acceptable" if not top-notch go away, that eliminates some competitive pricing pressures felt by the remaining businesses in the space.
If eBay and PayPal had serious, legitimate competition, for example, I doubt they'd get away with their current fee structure. I don't see why other services wouldn't operate the same way in the absence of legitimate competition.

Thats like looking at a coin and saying "What a piece of junk"...........then someone putting you in an armlock reaching for your wallet and saying "Yes,yes it is" now stop squirming.

What is it you like about ANACS?

so i guess it's safe to say we'll never see an ANACS with a CAC
<< <i>Here's something I "don't like" about them, >>
Hate the coin. Don't hate the slabber.

I think he's referring to the fact that you don't have to join a club or pay annual dues to submitt to Anacs.
