Anyone who knows about US work visa's when you are European?

Please PM. Looking for some good information and internet isn't helping me, and I would like to find out some more on my own before calling the US ambassy here in Holland for $20 a call.

I'm 19, can get a job in the US but have no idea how the visa part works.

Thanks,

Dennis

Generally you need to get an American company (your future employer) to sponsor you before you arrive. They should be able to get you a work visa. Best of luck!

If you're only 19, you likely don't yet have the skills that employers would be looking for in order to get them to want sponsor an international worker.

Basically you need your U.S. employer to provide you with a letter sponsoring your stay in the U.S. with a description and an estimated timeline of your job position and duties. You'll also need to provide evidence of some basic financial stability with a bank statement copy or similar doccument. Once you have those two things then go to the U.S. Embassy or consulate for an application.

That's not the problem (I call for 5 cents a minute to the US), it is the US embassy who charges $19 (Only payable with a credit-card) to actually talk to someone. It is located in Holland itself, so that won't be a problem.

It is a coin-related job anyway.

I don't know if this will help or not.

A few years ago I sponsored a Japanese citizen to work in my company under a international cultural exchange program - It was a 18 month visa J-1. After the 18 months I sponsored her for a 3 year visa H-1b, but this visa was kind of hard to get and required that she have a skill set that was in short supply in the US. The US Government also wanted alot of backgound and financial info on my company.

In both instances I sponsored her and used an US imigration attorney. I would suggest finding a company in the US that is willing to hire you and have them get a Lawyer to sort out all the details.

    Good Luck

Oh now come on.........Havn't you heard of the pizza deliveryman international exchange program. There is currently a huge shortfall of pizza deliverers in the US, and they are handing out visas like candy in order to fill jobs. image

  • try www.visajourney.com and look through the forums. There should be an area for work visas and you can see what others have done. I do believe the visa has to be sponsored by the employer.

I don't think he's looking for a positon as the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
There are thousands of hotel and food-service jobs available, and other similar types of work.
At least here in south Florida there are. Anyone who has ever stayed at a hotel in Dade or
Broward county could tell you that. Even Orlando. Hard to find an American working in a hotel
in any major metropolitan area in Florida.

Where on this forum would you have him post his question? I expect that the young man intended to ask his chatting friends his question, in order to get help. Unfortunately, you were no help!!
