Playing with new camera/guess the grade--Take two

Still adapting to the new camera, and I'm curious about any input on photography you have. These are natural light, because I haven't had the same success with my old lighting set up. On the way home today I got thinking about circular fluorescent light bulbs...

This eagle is pretty interesting:









Saint struck through a hair on reverse:





I'll keep posting progress on my photography.

Nice photos, but I think both coins have altered surfaces.

good photos, the first reverse eagle is awsome. sharp strike. maybe alter surfaces?maybe not?

Sorry I peeked at your EXIF. Nice shots. You might want to take a crack at shooting them in manual and setting your aperture about mid way. The published specs for the SD 1000 are f/2.8-4.9

Try manual with about f4 or so.

I love the Canon's for macro. Did you do these handheld or use a tripod?

Don't you just love that info they store in the photos? I'll try changing some of the settings around. Photos were handheld, but with an elbow resting on a stable surface.

Here's my second attempt. I had three table lamps placed roughly in a triangle, but still had trouble eliminating a shadow from myself.

The pics are nice and sharp but the white balance looks off to me. Too orange. Play around with the white balance. The SD1000 should have multiple white balance settings.
