Do TPG's make any efforts to persuade owners of specific coins to submit them for grading?

For example, a collector who has a large collection of Mint State early copper.

ummm.....quarterly grading special of key dates/mints? if that doesn't scream "we need these coins in our plastic to keep up the perception that we're a top rated TPG!", nothing does.

I believe they offered $10,000 to the first person to submit some coin or other - can't remember what it was, but I do remember thinking they wanted that coin in their plastic and were willing to pay for the advertising.

    Sac dollar with lettered edge.

Not really for "grading".... rather for use in a magazine article.

i noticed in NN that ICG is running a special "grade the keys for free" right now.......that seems to answer the question right there (apologies to PCGS as i realize this is their board)

Owners of a certain early proof set have enjoyed multiple upgrades as the services fought to get the coins into their holder. Don't look too close at what appeared to me to be a pinscratched out spot on one of the coins that's gone up twice. image
