Just got an interesting email from St. Petersburg. I thought the Rays had the worst attendance in the league. Why in the world would the city build them a new stadium?!?

Anyways, thought it may interest some of you.

As a developer of note, we would like to inform you of a major redevelopment opportunity.

We are pleased to inform your firm of a "Notice of Intent to Issue a Development RFP" for an 86-acre assembled site located in downtown St. Petersburg.

The site is currently occupied by Tropicana Field, home of Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Rays. However, the Rays have submitted a plan to the City to construct a new ballpark at an alternative site, thereby and making the Tropicana Field site available for development as early as 2009.

It is anticipated that responses to the RFP will be due approximately 60 days after its issue date - estimated to be January 18, 2008. The site is adjacent to I-175 and I-275, with multiple interstate access points, and is located approximately one mile west of the St. Petersburg Tampa Bay waterfront.

For complete details, contact information, and maps of the 86-acres for development, please visit our Notice of Intent online at http://stpeteshines.stpete.org/default.aspx?pageid=877
