65 Down--1965 Philadelphia Football Completed in PSA 8 or Better

With the recent completion of 1962 Topps Baseball and now 1965 Philadelphia Football, I am now up to 65 sets in my quest for 100 vintage or semi-vintage sets with every card psa 8 or better. The final card(but not the toughest) was card #1-Colts Team--a pop 14 card I picked up on ebay. The toughest card is 114-Erich Barnes, a pop 5.

The set ranks 6th on the PSA Set Registry with a 8.15 set rating behind such collecting powerhouses as Fab Frank, the mighty MOSH and the ultra-competitive Fuzzdude. I will let it rest at this level. Having also completed 1964 Philadelphia, I am a long way from finishing both 1966 and 1967 although Art Miller has graciously offered to provide me with some cards to assist me on this latter set.

The going is getting a little tough for a couple of reasons--first, in many cases the cards in PSA 8 simply do not exist, second they are very low pop and just do not show up or third it would be prohibitly expensive to finish certain sets in psa 8(such as 1952 Topps). Nevertheless, the quest continues and I have enough baseball, football, football, hockey and non-sports sets in play that I am confident God willing I will get there.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

As far as my budget is concerned, its a new year and once again the dollars are going. Trouble is, I cannot restrict myself to just pursuing this goal. Just agreed to buy 4 high grade SGC early Bobby Jones cards.

Jim - have you considered doing R423? Just over 120 cards in the set, most are from $10-$20 in PSA 8 or 9 (including HOFers), and there's not that much competition for it.

Jim, absolutely amazing collection. I'm still working on my first graded set (1968 Topps BB). I know you're always looking for cards, I was wondering if you had any dupes from 1968 that you had available. I think you have your PM turned off, so please feel free to PM me if you have any.

    Thank you in advance,

    Brian
  • Unbelievable achievement!
