How do you display raw coins?

I'm trying to figure out a good way to display my raw coins. They're all in 2X2's.

I could...

a) put them all in binder pages
b) put them into albums by series
c) other

What should I do?

  • i like the $20 soin trays dealers use at shows, only bad thing is they get pricey. i like them because they look really professional in them, and nice.
to each his own , theyre alot of ways. just have to find what is best for you i guess.

I considered that, but I don't think those are very space-conscious.

  • Dansco makes an ablum (not sure the album number) that has clear plastic pages that will hold the 2x2 flips. I personaly love the looks of a Dansco, so I would recomend that option.
  • they fit perfectly into a 5ft safe. about 90 I have in now. more room still in there too.

i like capital plastics and it seems they have a broad spectrum to work with.

    "c) other"

For coin show displays, I put my raw coins on a freshly cut slab of beef – aka dead bovine. I try to pick a cut of beef that is nicely marbled to emphasize the even surfaces and toning of the raw coins. Descriptive labels are burned into the meat with a branding tool. I decorate the case with sprigs of bay leaf, chunks of hickory and oak.

The display can be eaten after the show closes (except for the coins).

PS: Use refrigerated cases unless you like your beef “gamey.”

I don't have many coins, less than 30, so easy to just throw them on a table or whatever is handy...

Several years ago I co-opted the top shelf of the china closet, went to Hobby Lobby, bought some styrofoam, a royal blue satin cloth and some dowels. Built a tiered four-shelf display, secured the dowels at the front of each tier and covered the "stand" with the cloth. The raw coins go into airtites and put 'em up. At the moment it is too cluttered.

Totally depends on what kind of coins and if there is any unifying concept to the assemblage.

I sue a Dansco for my primary set of raw coins 7070 type set

and a few other albums for series like the Franklin half and Peace dollar

Another way is to use display cases

for short term display, long term the set is in 2x2 boxes in the SDP along with the other good stuff.

There are also album pages that 2x2s fit in, and one can have a binder for each denomination or separators within one book.

depends on the coins and your intent for display and storage
