auction pics stolen from vette1986?

BBNBBN Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭
one thing I've always been able to recognize about his auctions was the red velvety background. This looks like one of vette's pics. Not to mention the seller has a feedback of (1) and selling other "pricey" items.

    Looks like the same coin to me. Has someone notified eBay and vette1986?

  • If vette1986 is on the boards here...please contact me. I have been looking at some of his 09-S's and 14-D lincolns...and I'd like to work a deal directly with him if at all possible. If someone here has his PM handle, please PM it to me! Thanks in advance...

    I don't think that they are the same coin. One has a ding on the rim at 3 o'clock the other does not.

    So, how did the new guy list this coin 4 days before vette? Perhaps vette's using a bogus stolen pic from
    the newby?

    I got an answer ->

    I can't understand your message. I do not ship internationaly. This is my coin not "vette" or whoever. BTW, I know I am being setup and will report it to ebay!

    Does this seller read the boards? What do they mean they know they are being set-up?
  • Is the 1890 coin he is selling a scam also?

    I guess it is possible the seller was the purchaser of these items and is selling with the pictures they bought from

    but they relisted the $10 gold right when it sold - did a shill bidder win it or do they feel the sale will not be completed?
  • slipgateslipgate Posts: 2,301 ✭✭
    The first auction appears to be the same coin, but a different picture (see my previous post above). This one looks to be identical.

  • This is really weird. Just received this message from a dealer friend who contacted the seller, and it wasn't sinin1, and this is the reply he received.

    I see you are sinin1 from collectors universe. I can't understand why I
    am trying to be setup. I am trying to honestly sell coins. I will report
    all of you to ebay and the collectors universe if you continue to
    harrass me. I am not the same phillyguy as the bigbuffalo guy said, I
    never stole 6 grand from him and maybe our names are similar but I am
    not that person! Now stop harrasing me or all of you will be reported!
    ---------------------------------------
    How in the World???
  • sinin1sinin1 Posts: 7,500
    i got a message as well->
    hey sinin1 from the collectors universe. I can see you are all trying to sabatoge my auctions. WTF is that about, I never ripped anyone off! If this continues I am going to report you all to ebay, I have the emails and profiles written down. I am trying to honestly sell some of my coins, why the heck are you guys trying to get at me!

    here is my response->
    The coins you have pictured are pictures from other auctions - so do you have the exact coins pictured or some similar? Your gold piece has a S on the reverse, not mentioned in title/description, I have nothing against honest sellers, but something does not seem right, 1 feedback from a $4 purchase, a coin picture that closed 6 days ago (although that is odd auction as well). I have just been screwed on eBay too many times to watch others get screwed as well. Lucky for you, not many buyers read Coin Universe forums. I am not trying to sabatoge your efforts if legitimate.

    and his reply->

    oh you are not trying to sabatoge my sales huh, you already did, dirtlegger bought 1 one of my coins! Now is he going to pay for it ??? If not I am reporting you and all the other members to ebay. This is BS ! All i am trying to do is sell my stuff. Its crooks like you that ruin it.
    I am contacting collectors universe and giving them a rundown of all that went on and I will post it. You should be ashamed of yourself! If something ever bad happens to you, you can at least say there was a reason for it!
    I NEVER screwed anyone in my life. Now dirtlegger is going to screw me. Probably part of your little crew, I bet you all shill bid too!

    so who knows? I know I would not try to sell valuable stuff on eBay with no history or picturing abilities.

  • He sent me the following:
    hey, check my info, I am not this Mike guy, my name is Bob, go ahead, check my credentials. You bought the coin and now have to honer the aggreement!

    To which I replied:
    Can't wait. Hopefully it looks just like Item #270198740366 which is now listed but didn't sell previously and previously was listed using the exact picture you have. And hopefully the other lot I bid on looks just like item# 130183760373. I seriously want both of these items and can't wait to get them. Ofcourse, you'll understand if I send a friend of mine from NJ to come pick it up? We are willing to pay cash.

    I didn't mean for you guys to all get involved with this, so am sorry if it causes any problems. It is worth it to me to get a bad guy off ebay.

    Seller understood the questions while claiming otherwise.
    And yes--seller is reading this thread.

    Yes. When I pointed out that the pictures might be stolen he replied that he
    owned them and could prove it.

  • Below are the similarities between the ebay listing by bioguy0516 in which we lost $5,855 here and the listing by phillyfan2008 here.

    From NJ, with PhillyFan user names and or email accounts (bioguy0516's email was something like phillyfan0516@gmail.com), have a gmail email addresses (both users have a gmail address), who keep winning bidders private, who use images that don't belong to them, who don't have paypal accounts, who demand early payment, who are just now beginning to sell coins on ebay, and who wish potential bidders "happy bidding" (both listings wish bidders "happy bidding.")

  • << <i>was it the same guy who was claiming he owned the pictures

    I believe they are, and haven't heard from the person of the stolen pics listing since this guy was arrested. The two instances were so similar that I just have to believe they are somehow related. I will let you know if I find out for sure.
  • actually, you were wrong all along. I am not that guy, just someone trying to sell coins on ebay. I hope you all feel better now with these false accusations. Now we see there is proof that I am not the one who stole your 6k.

    Boy, I bet everyone feels just sooo good about themselves, you should all be ashamed of yourselves, you call yourselves dignified collectors, bunch of bums if you ask me. Luckily my auctions are still going ok. Even made a nice sale!

  • I dount it, he is probably still laughin at the schumck who paid him, I think it sucks to be ripped off the 6k but from what I have seen of the members here, it was deserved considering they tried to ruin my auction.
