unable to comment based on the images... sorry about that, but I would rather be straight forward

Stop it now...We all know that PCGS grades tighter than ANACS.

I'd say yes, and it will definitely cross.

IMO it would cross equally and have about a 50/50 chance of getting to XF40 just based on details visible and assuming a closer inspection of the coin doesn't reveal any addtional problems that have to be discounted in the grade.

  • Great shot at XF40, but with how tight the services have recently gotten, I say it stays a VF35.

I have looked over this coin very carefully and see NO problems. Of course I can't view the edge of the coin with it in the holder and I am not about to crack it out. All I can figure is ANACS was way to tight when they graded this coin.

The photos aren't very good, but in terms of wear it appears solid in the assigned grade. It is a coin that should be put into PCGS plastic simply to improve marketability.

Tough to predict even with the best of photos--heck, it's tough to guess with the coin in hand. Based on what I see, it is worth a shot and, like 291fifth said, even if the coin goes 30 or 35, you have not lost anything.

Is the coin for sale?If so,looks like a great coin to own.

291fifth & RYK....You two are right, this coin needs to be in PCGS plastic and out of the ANACS plastic.

I strongly believe this coin will make PCGS XF. I submitted it for crossover on 12/12/07, so I (we) will soon find out what PCGS thinks.image

I am willing to bet that PCGS will XF this coin on the first crossover try.

Does it matter if it's in a VF or XF holder ?image

Looks 40ish but did ANACS net grade for something we can't see. No hairlines?

No thanks DUIGUY.....Your 1799 looks pretty much like a XF40 to me also. Is it in an old school green label holder?image

notwilight.......I see no hairlines or any other problems that would have caused ANACS to net grade this coin.
