Are clash marks common on the IHC?
I think there is one on the reverse and
wondered if it is typical?

That's not a clash, it's a die break. It's not common nor rare and it commands no premium.

That's not a clash, it's a die break. It's not common nor rare and it commands no premium. >>

Actually the reverse is clashed, you see it the strongest going through C(ent) to the wreath, (This is the forhead and nose of Liberty). You can probably see some of the chin/neck going through O(ne) and some of the feathers to the right of the (on)E and (cent)T. Clashing on IHC's is common.

As for the color, I do not believe it natural, sorry.
As for the grade, AU.

A forum member years ago made this overlay up, it helps to show were the clashing would be. The clashing will generally only show in fields as that is the highest points on the die.

No and yes. No it isn't a die break, it is a typical clash mark. Yes it is common and commands no premium.

The extreme of your clash, coin c/o IrishMike. This coin commands some premium.

As for the coin, the grade, and do you like toning on business strike IH's....

I'll leave that up to more astute collectors to decide
