2 spouse coins = transportation around the globe

Did that saturday.
Sold 4 spouse (Martha & Abigail, MS69/PF69 FS PCGS) to the local coin shop
Asked for, and received, spot price. Figured it is better then selling on ebay and getting less after fees, fees, and shipping worries.

Gave proceeds to wife to pay on her credit card for the two round trips to italy. About equal.

May me think on the way home,

One ounce eagle or buffalo or $20 liberty can get you to the other side of the world.
Half ounce or $10 old eagle can get you one way trip to the other side of the globe.

Guess that's why it's called gold.

Strange how some things hold their purchasing power.........image Next time put them on the BST forum and they will be sold fast at your asking price....likely a bit more.
  • Let me get this straight, you sold two graded first spouse gold coins for spot? What I get for bullion GAE's? And you think you came out ok?

  • Yes, I think I came out ok.
I started with 20 and sold the other 16 before they went down.

Prices on ebay have been about $450. After subtracting $30-35 for paypal and ebay fees, I would only net out $410-420.
Better to take $406 and not worry if I going to lose the lottery and have a problem buyer.

I could have tried to dicker with the dealer, but I figure if I was the dealer, what would I be willing to pay. He probably put
him in the case at $499 and have to wait for a buyer to walk in.

Actualy sold 4, two each proof and unc.

  • Well if you are happy I guess thats all that counts, who am I to argue? Have fun on your trip!
