yeah I got into a bidding war lastnight with someone over a 1694 GERMAN BRUNSWICK ERNST AUGUST 1/3 THALER COIN. Link
I lost it at the last minute. My wife was glad I lost but I was pretty bummed about it. I made sure I was going to get this one.
    Merry Christmas!

  • Nice coin you got there! May I suggest a sniper program to bid with? I use EZ Sniper EZ Sniper link You get three free snipes to start with and pretty reasonable rates after that (most cost a dime) it bids automatically on a predetermined time (I have mine set for 3 seconds before the auction ends) this gives no time for someone to bid again and over time saves money. You said you got in a bidding war, I love it when that happens when I am selling but hate it when I am buying. If you had waited until the last moment and then hit your max bid the coin might have been gotten a lot cheaper instead of tossing bids back and forth with someone else. I just read what I typed and confused myself... Take a look at their website and it will explain it a whole lot better than I am. image I tried the sniping service for free and never left. I rarely place an actual bid thru eBay anymore (unless it is a small token bid just to kind of keep an eye on an auction). Again, nice coin... How or what are you collecting in the series or was this an impulse buy? What are your collecting interests?

  • Auction Sniper is another site that offers the first few wins free. After that it charges about one per cent of the winning bid and automatically makes a charge to your credit card when the amount reaches a certain dollar value. I used to use PowerSnipe, which is a yearly paid snipe service, but after losing a series of auctions in which it did not place my bid, and after very difficult communication in which I was lied to several times as to the cause, I cancelled that service and went with Auction Sniper.

As to the time I set to place my snipe, I use 8 seconds, since that leaves very little time for someone else to outbid me, and since I sometimes win when another person bidding at less than 8 seconds bid the same amount. That happened a coupld days ago with my maximum bid of $51. Another person also set that as their own max bid, but I got the item due to his coming after my own.

I think I've got a little Wildman piece lying around at home somewhere.
